Today I was gathering some video's from YouTube, suddenly the site was inaccessible for me, I thought this may be a problem of my internet connection, but when I tried other sites, they were working normally.
I searched for information about this problem on Digg, I found some peoples were saying that was DNS highjack, where news.com only reports it was down for around 40 minutes, no one knows what is the actual problem was.
According to yelvington.com
YouTube has disappeared from the Internet, apparently the victim of hackers who managed to gain control of its root DNS record. A whois request for Youtube.com returns this:
Whois Server Version 2.0
Domain names in the .com and .net domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
for detailed information.YOUTUBE.COM.ZZZZZ.GET.LAID.AT.WWW.SWINGINGCOMMUNITY.COM

YOUTUBE.COM... and all packets destined for YouTube are disappearing into the network of PCCW Telecom of Hong Kong.
UPDATE: OpenDNS explains "Youtube.com is down right now because Pakistan Telecom has decided to (accidentally probably) hijack their IP address space which means that nobody in the world can reach Youtube." Pakistan has blocked access to the popular YouTube website because of content deemed offensive to Islam.
After 30-40 minutes YouTube is back.
