Orkut is an online community designed to make your social life more active and stimulating. Orkut makes it easy to find people who share your hobbies and interests, look for romantic connections or establish new business contacts.
Orkut was launched in January 2004 by Google Inc., it is one of the best services provided by Google, Orkut named for the Google engineer who developed it, Orkut Buyukkokten. (Orkut is easier to spell and pronounce than Buyukkokten.) It was created as an independent project to help people around the world connect.
It's grown up pretty fast, with many more features, communities, friends, photos and since it first opened as an invite-only community.
